We’ve been taught that speed equals competence, urgency is proof we care, that slowing down is a risk.
For many of us, especially women and people who’ve learned to over-function to stay safe, pace becomes something we stop choosing. It’s imposed. And over time, that constant speed takes a real toll on the body.
This meditation isn’t about opting out of responsibility or pretending the stakes aren’t real. Most of us are still inside systems that demand output, responsiveness, and performance.
The practice is simpler than that.
It’s an invitation to notice how fast you’re moving, not because you should change it, but because awareness itself creates choice.
Slowing down doesn’t mean stopping. It means questioning how much effort is actually required in any given moment.
Even a small shift in pace can interrupt urgency, soften the body, and return a sense of agency. Not the kind that comes from escape, but the kind that comes from discernment.
If you’re feeling pressure to rush, to keep up, or to prove yourself, this is an offering to briefly pause minutes and remember that speed is not the same thing as worth.
You can slow down without falling behind.
